words fell like rain

October 19, 2011

I’ve been writing up a blizzard for the last two days, but none of it seems suitable for the blog. In preparation for Nanowrimo next month, I decided to try to write 1700 words every day in October, so that by the end of the month, I would have written 52,700 words. Before I began this blog post, my monthly total was at 34,302.

I’ve begun assembling a cast of characters for my novel, and I think I have a premise for it, more or less.

I’ve been reading a lot lately. I am hoping to read 300 books in 2011. So far, I’ve read 257. I’m not sure if I’ll be reading a lot less in November, since I’ll be writing so much more than normal. But I might still have to read a lot to learn stuff that’s relevant, so it’s hard to say.

Spouse has been sick with a cold all week, and has worked from home for the last two days, which means I get to hear a lot of coughing, sneezing, and nose blowing. Definitely not my favorite part of rainy and cool season.

Some idiots in my neighborhood really pissed me off two days ago by pouring barbecue sauce all over a boulder I often sit on, and then breaking the glass bottle on the boulder, and leaving glass shards all over the place. By the time I got there, the sauce had dried, and there were ants crawling all over it. I gingerly picked up all the glass pieces I could find, and threw them out. The garbage dumpster is 100 yards away. I’m hoping that today’s rain will have washed the sauce off.

I was bummed out when the grocery store was out of molasses cookies this week. Everything is better with molasses cookies.

Time to track down something to read…
