ongoing adventures

March 12, 2010

I had 2 “abnormal” EKGs in the span of a week, so despite everyone concerned being fairly certain that my recent scary episodes were anxiety-related, not cardiac issues, today I had an echocardiogram and a nuclear stress test.

Everything looked normal. Thank the gods. I see my PCP next Monday afternoon.

In fiber-related news, I finished knitting my first skein of yarn. I’m amazed and gratified that creating fabric out of fiber can happen so quickly, with essentially no preparation (very unlike weaving). My mind is going in all sorts of directions about how I can utilize it best, which is very exciting and energizing. And while I was sleeping last night (and was very anxious about the tests today), in my dreams I had some kind of epiphany about knitting — unfortunately, I don’t remember the details now that I’m awake — but it allowed me to sleep through the night without bringing on another anxiety attack. I also thought about knitting while the tests were being run. I tend to use deep breathing for relaxation, but deep breathing interferes with the tests, so I had to figure out how to stay calm and “relaxed” (yeah, right!) while still breathing shallowly. On the bright side, I guess I’ve developed a new skill, and likely it’ll come in handy at some point.
